Is Santa Clarita due for another earthquake any time soon? No one can tell you that, but it may be time to think about having your home insured in case of earthquake damage. After the 1994 earthquake, the insurance companies joined together and form the CEA (California Earthquake Authority). Farmer's Insurance is proud to be part of the CEA and can offer you earthquake insurance for your home.
If you decide to take this coverage, it must be equal to the coverage you have with your regular homeowner's policy. If you do have a loss due to an earthquake you will still be responsible for your mortgage balance. Discuss this with your family and insurance agent before making a decision. You may want to check out the CEA's website. And, as always, contact me if you have any questions.
