I was in Bishop, California this weekend for the Rotary Club's annual Bishop Safari. Over a hundred Rotarians from all over southern California, predominantly from District 5260, gather there annually for a weekend of activities and fellowship.
Bishop is a town of about 3,000 people and is located in the eastern Sierras. It is just an hour's drive to Mammoth, with trout fishing along the Owen's River and the smell of the outdoors in the air. Home prices in Bishop are similar to those here in Santa Clarita, which seems amazing for a town that size, located so far from a big city. Much of the surrounding land is owned by the Department of Water and Power, so no new homes can be built within the city limits of Bishop.
Homeowner's insurance rates are also similar to those here in Santa Clarita. Even though Bishop is over two hundred miles from here and has such a small population, we have much in common.
